Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 09, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Base Extension ("the Extension," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you install and use the Extension in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Firefox.
By installing or using the Extension, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the Extension.
1. Who we are
Base Extension is a browser extension whose single purpose is to provide a live market heatmap of the largest crypto assets. It is important to note that this Extension is not a custodial wallet and does not ask for seed phrases or any sensitive financial information.
2. What information we handle
2.1 Information stored on your device
The Extension may store the following locally in your browser (using browser storage APIs):
- Preferences you choose (such as theme, currency, refresh interval, and similar settings)
- Tool data you create (including watchlists, favorites, alert targets, and similar lists)
- Temporary cached responses to improve performance and reduce repeated network requests
This information remains on your device and may sync across your signed-in browser profile if browser sync is enabled. We do not use this information to sell advertising profiles.
2.2 Information sent over the network
To operate this Extension, it may request data from public services such as the CoinGecko public API. These requests are limited to providing the Extension's single purpose of displaying a market heatmap and are not used to track you across unrelated websites.
2.3 Information we do not collect
We do not intentionally collect:
- Your name, postal address, or government ID
- Payment card details
- Your email address through the Extension UI (unless you contact us separately)
- Your browsing history or the content of unrelated websites
- Microphone, camera, or precise location data
- Seed phrases, private keys, or wallet recovery information
3. How we use information
We use information only to:
- Provide the market heatmap features as described in the store listing
- Remember your settings and saved lists
- Refresh live data when the Extension needs it
- Show optional toolbar badges or notifications you enable
- Respond to support emails you send us
- Comply with applicable law and browser-store policies
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use Extension data for third-party advertising. We do not use host access to track you across unrelated websites.
4. Permissions (plain language)
The Extension may request browser permissions such as:
- Storage — to save settings and in-extension data on your device
- Alarms — to schedule refreshes, badges, or alert checks
- Side panel — to open the Extension UI beside the browser
- Limited host access — to access only specific HTTPS services needed for this tool (not unrestricted access to all websites)
These permissions are used solely for the purposes described above.
5. Third-party services
The Extension relies on third-party providers solely to operate its features (for example, the CoinGecko public API). Those providers may process technical request data under their own privacy policies (such as IP address, timestamps, and request metadata that normally appear in server logs).
6. Data sharing
We do not sell or rent user data. We may share information only when:
- Needed to operate the Extension through service providers
- Required by law, regulation, or valid legal process
- Needed to protect users, the Extension, or our rights against abuse or fraud
7. Data retention
- Local Extension data remains until you clear it, reset Extension data, or uninstall the Extension.
- Cached data is temporary and may be replaced or removed automatically.
- If you contact us by email, we keep that correspondence as long as needed to support you and meet legal obligations.
Uninstalling the Extension removes Extension storage on that browser profile (subject to your browser's normal behavior).
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate for a browser extension, including limiting permissions and avoiding unnecessary data collection. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.
9. Children’s privacy
The Extension is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it where applicable.
10. International users
If you use the Extension from outside your home country, information may be processed in other countries where our providers operate.
11. Your choices
You can:
- Change or clear in-Extension settings and saved data
- Disable or uninstall the Extension at any time
- Clear Extension data through your browser settings
- Contact us with questions about this Privacy Policy
12. Chrome Web Store / Edge / Firefox disclosures
- The Extension's use of permissions is limited to providing its single purpose as described in the store listing.
- The Extension does not sell personal or sensitive user data.
- The Extension does not transfer personal or sensitive user data to third parties for purposes unrelated to that single purpose, except as needed to operate the product or as required by law.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Extension after an update means you accept the revised policy.
